There have been many jackpot winners in New York since it joined Powerball in 2010, including carpenter Nandlall Mangal, who scooped $245 million on August 11th 2018 after spending $6 on a Quick Pick ticket. The 42-year-old bought his winning entry at the Stop & Shop supermarket on Hylan Boulevard in Staten Island and he claimed his winnings through a trust named ‘Sea and Sand’.
In October 2018, a winning ticket bought at the West Harlem Deli on 5th Avenue in New York City shared the third-largest jackpot in Powerball history with another ticket from Iowa. Both winners had a choice between a cash lump sum payment worth $198 million or the annuity option of around $343 million.
